App Alert: “Obstructed” – Frequent Interruptions Detected
This notification indicates that your Starlink service is experiencing interruptions at least once an hour due to obstructions in its field of view. These obstructions could be caused by objects like trees, structures, material build-up, or if the Starlink dish has fallen over, although the latter is less common.
The impact of these interruptions on your internet experience may vary depending on your usage:
1. Basic Internet Functionality: If you are primarily using the internet for activities like web browsing and not facing significant performance issues, you can safely ignore this alert.
2. High Usage Internet Applications: However, if you engage in high-demand applications such as online gaming, which are sensitive to even small dropouts, it’s essential to take action to improve your experience. This may involve moving your Starlink to a new location or clearing any obstructions.
To find an optimal location for your Starlink, follow these steps:
1. Use the “Obstructions” tool on the Starlink App to identify the current obstructions affecting your connection.
2. Consider relocating your Starlink to a new position or removing the obstructions. Alternatively, you can mount it at a higher location, such as on a roof, pole, or wall.
3. To assess the obstruction level of a potential new location, use the “Check for Obstructions” tool. This will guide you through scanning Starlink’s field of view using your device’s camera.
Note: If you decide to change locations, please be aware that it may take up to 12 hours for the current obstruction visualisation to update.
Repeat this process in multiple locations to find the most suitable spot. If you need further assistance, reach out to us for a consultation. If possible, provide clear photos of your Starlink dish installation and its surroundings to help resolve the issue effectively.
