Starlink Installation Guide

Ensure Unobstructed View of the Sky

To maintain a reliable connection with the Starlink satellites, it is crucial to have a clear view of the sky. Objects like trees, poles, or roofs can obstruct the connection and cause interruptions. Follow these steps to find an installation location with a clear view of the sky:

Download the Starlink App.

  1. Utilise the “Check for Obstructions” tool to identify the best installation spot that offers optimal service.
  2. For optimal performance, install the Starlink dish as close to a vertical position as possible.

Connecting Starlink

Place the Starlink dish on its base and connect it to a power source.

The Starlink dish will automatically level itself and begin searching for satellites overhead. Do not attempt to manually adjust its position.
After a few minutes, the Starlink dish will establish an initial connection with the Starlink constellation and tilt to the ideal angle for satellite coverage (slightly north or south based on your hemisphere).

If you cannot find a clear field of view at ground level, consider installing the dish in an elevated location such as a roof, pole, or wall.  For frequently asked questions, installation guides, and troubleshooting, refer to the Starlink App and the Support section on starlink.com.

Connecting to WiFi

  1. On your device, locate and connect to the STARLINK network in your WiFi settings.
  2. Once connected, a browser window will open, prompting you to enter a new SSID (network name) and password. This step is optional but recommended.
  3. You are now connected! Open the Starlink App to customize additional settings, check your connection, and more.

If you encounter any issues during the installation or connection process, follow these troubleshooting steps:

  1. Open the Starlink App to check for alerts, outages, or obstructions.
  2. Verify the status of the WiFi router by checking the indicator lights.
  3. Ensure all connections are secure and check for any damage to hardware or cables.
  4. Confirm that the service address listed on your account is accurate.
  5. Perform a power cycle by unplugging the Starlink device, waiting for a moment, and then plugging it back in.
