Step-by-Step Guide: Setting Up Starlink Mesh

Before adding your mesh nodes, ensure that your Starlink Kit is set up and connected to the internet. Follow these steps to successfully install and configure your Starlink mesh network:

1. Find appropriate locations for your mesh nodes within one to two rooms’ distance from each other. Plug the nodes into power outlets.

2. Connect your device to the existing Starlink WiFi network and launch the Starlink App.

3. Allow 1-2 minutes for a “New Mesh Node(s)” notification to appear in the app.

4. On the app’s “Network” screen, tap “Pair” or “Pair All” to initiate the connection process. The nodes will take about 1-2 minutes to establish a connection.

5. Repeat the pairing process for additional mesh nodes, if required.

To optimise the performance of your mesh network, consider the following placement tips:

– Place mesh nodes no more than one to two rooms apart for optimal coverage.

– Ensure your main router is centrally located within your space.

– Prior to setting up mesh nodes, use the WiFi Scanner on the Starlink App to analyse the signal strength of your existing Starlink router. Identify areas where additional coverage is needed, indicated by a green signal.

– For the best performance, pair all mesh nodes directly to the main router, avoiding chained connections. Use the Starlink App to monitor how the mesh nodes are connected to each other, and adjust their positions if needed to establish direct connections.

– Avoid using more than three mesh nodes, as it may lead to decreased performance.

For more detailed tips on optimising your environment for better WiFi connectivity, consider placing your router in an upright position, in an open area, and away from sources of interference.
